The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for a shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, adding another prominent celebrity to a growing list of individuals linked to threats and attacks involving the criminal network.
Shroff escaped unharmed when gunmen opened fire at his BMW in Mumbai’s Juhu neighbourhood on Sunday, October 18. His driver, however, sustained injuries and was admitted to Nanavati Hospital for treatment. The incident has renewed concerns about the security of Bollywood personalities amid a series of shootings and intimidation attempts associated with organised crime.
Gang Members Reportedly Claim Responsibility
According to Indian media reports, Anil Pandit, described as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed that he carried out the attack alongside an accomplice identified as Harman Sandhu.
Approximately five rounds were reportedly fired at Shroff’s vehicle outside the Juhu residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
Mumbai Police confirmed that a shooting had occurred within the jurisdiction of Juhu police station and that Shroff had not suffered any gunshot injuries. Authorities said an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances of the attack.
Although the gang has reportedly claimed responsibility, investigators have not publicly established the identities of the attackers or confirmed the group’s involvement through completed findings.
Bishnoi Gang’s History of High-Profile Attacks
The latest incident has drawn renewed attention to the Lawrence Bishnoi network, which has been linked to several prominent criminal cases involving Indian entertainers and public figures.
The gang has been associated with the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, the 2024 murder of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai and a shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence in April 2024.
The network has also been linked to incidents involving people perceived as close to Salman Khan. These include a shooting at a Delhi gym associated with singer Guru Randhawa and attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada.American prosecutors have described the Bishnoi network as a transnational organised crime syndicate that uses public claims of violence to intimidate targets and facilitate extortion.However, those previous incidents do not independently establish responsibility for the latest attack involving Shroff.
