Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has rejected claims that the security situation in Balochistan is steadily deteriorating, saying a misleading perception is being created despite continued counterterrorism operations and state efforts to maintain stability in the province.
Speaking during a media interaction, the military spokesperson said the narrative surrounding Balochistan does not accurately reflect the ground realities. He argued that while security challenges remain, law enforcement agencies and security forces continue to carry out intelligence-based operations against militant groups across the province.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said terrorist organisations and hostile actors are attempting to spread fear through violence and information campaigns designed to undermine public confidence. He maintained that Pakistan’s security institutions remain committed to addressing these threats and ensuring the protection of citizens.
The DG ISPR emphasised that Balochistan’s challenges extend beyond security and require continued economic development, improved governance and public welfare initiatives alongside law enforcement measures. He said the state remains focused on strengthening stability and supporting long-term development across the province.
His remarks come amid renewed debate over the security situation in Balochistan following a series of militant attacks and ongoing counterterrorism operations. The province has experienced periodic violence linked to insurgent groups, prompting continued military and civilian efforts to improve security.
The military spokesperson also highlighted the role of disinformation in shaping public perceptions, urging observers to distinguish between isolated incidents and the broader security picture. He said security forces would continue operations against militant organisations while working with civil institutions to maintain peace.
Although acknowledging that challenges persist, Lt Gen Chaudhry stressed that portraying the province as being in a state of continuous decline does not reflect the overall situation. He reaffirmed that the country’s security forces remain committed to countering terrorism and supporting stability in Balochistan.
