BLACKPINK’s Jennie is preparing to return with new music before the end of August, with her agency confirming that the K-pop star is stepping up preparations for a new EP following a packed run of international festival appearances.
OA Entertainment, also known as ODDATELIER, confirmed on August 19 that Jennie is intensifying preparations for the upcoming release. The announcement comes after a year that has seen the singer expand her presence as a solo performer across some of the world’s major music festivals.
Jennie has headlined seven international festivals this year, including Governors Ball in New York, Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Open’er Festival in Poland, Mad Cool Festival in Spain and Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan.
Those performances have done more than maintain her global visibility. They have also served as previews of what could be coming next.
During selected festival appearances, Jennie performed previously unreleased tracks including “Less than a Lover,” “FALLEN ANGEL” and “lockitdown,” giving fans an early taste of her evolving solo sound and fuelling anticipation around the upcoming EP.
“Less than a Lover” has already gained notable traction. The track received gold certification on China’s QQ Music shortly after its release and, according to Starnews Korea as cited by Express Tribune, became the only female solo single released this year to achieve that recognition. It also topped Mnet’s M Countdown for two consecutive weeks.
The upcoming project arrives as Jennie continues to strengthen an individual identity beyond her work with BLACKPINK. Her festival appearances, solo releases and increasingly global performance schedule have helped position her as one of K-pop’s most internationally visible solo stars.
The comeback announcement also follows a separate development involving Jennie’s agency. OA Entertainment recently announced legal action over what it described as maliciously edited videos, false information and online material allegedly violating the artist’s privacy and personal rights.
For fans, however, attention is now firmly focused on the music.
OA Entertainment has confirmed that Jennie is preparing the EP for release by the end of August, although the report does not provide a specific release date, complete tracklist or final title. Those details are therefore still awaited.
With several tracks already teased before global audiences and anticipation building across her international fanbase, Jennie’s late-August comeback could become one of the month’s biggest K-pop releases.
