Mr Pattlo Granted Protective Bail After Sialkot Wedding Stampede Kills 2

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted protective bail to TikTok influencer Muhammad Ansar Jatt, popularly known as Mr Pattlo, following a deadly stampede at his wedding-related event in Sialkot. The incident killed 2 people and injured 18 others after a large crowd gathered at Faraz Cricket Ground on October 30, 2026. Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar granted Jatt temporary protection from arrest until November 10, allowing him to approach the relevant court in Sialkot. The decision does not clear him of the allegations or end the criminal investigation.

Mr Pattlo Protective Bail Granted Until November 10

The Islamabad High Court heard Jatt’s petition on Tuesday, November 3. He appeared before the court in a wheelchair, accompanied by his legal representatives. Barrister Qasim Nawaz Abbasi and Barrister Raja Ali Abbas Jalap filed the petition on his behalf.

His lawyers requested protective bail so he could approach the court handling the criminal case without facing arrest during the journey. They argued that the FIR had been registered outside the Islamabad High Court’s territorial jurisdiction.

The court accepted the request and granted temporary relief until November 10. However, the judge did not decide whether the allegations against Jatt were true. The protective bail only gives him time to seek further legal relief from the appropriate court.

Sialkot Wedding Stampede Leaves 2 Dead and 18 Injured

The tragedy occurred during a mehndi celebration and prize-distribution event organised at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road. Jatt had promoted the gathering through social media, attracting hundreds of attendees.

According to police, the organisers advertised a lucky draw offering motorcycles, a car and other valuable prizes. The promotion attracted a large crowd to the venue.

The situation became dangerous when the stadium gates opened. Police said an announcement over the loudspeakers instructed attendees to enter the ground simultaneously. As people rushed towards the entrance, a crowd crush occurred.

The incident killed 2 people and injured 18 others. Emergency responders attended to the victims, while police began investigating the arrangements made for the gathering.

Police Register Case Against Mr Pattlo and Event Organisers

Following the incident, police registered a first information report (FIR) at Motra Police Station on October 31. The case names Jatt, his brother, the owner of Faraz Cricket Ground, 6 other individuals and approximately 40 to 45 unidentified security guards.

Police included several provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code, covering accidental killing, rioting, unlawful assembly, disobedience of official orders and abetment. The FIR also invokes Section 16 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960.

Investigators are examining the event’s security arrangements, crowd management and compliance with official permissions. However, the registration of an FIR does not establish the guilt of those named.

Sialkot Police Arrest 6 Suspects

Sialkot police confirmed on November 1 that they had arrested 6 individuals connected to the event. District Police Officer Dost Muhammad said the suspects had participated in managing the gathering.

According to the DPO, organisers violated the conditions of their event permit and failed to follow established safety procedures. Police also reported that the gathering disrupted traffic along the main Daska-Sialkot Road.

Investigators alleged that Jatt left the venue immediately after the incident. Police subsequently launched operations to locate him and other individuals named in the case.

The DPO said authorities would pursue legal action against those responsible, regardless of their status or public recognition.

Mr Pattlo Denies Allegations in Bail Petition

In his petition before the Islamabad High Court, Jatt denied the allegations against him. His lawyers maintained that authorities had wrongly implicated him in the case.

The petition also stated that he had no previous criminal record. His legal team argued that he needed temporary protection to approach the appropriate court and seek pre-arrest bail.

The defence emphasised that the Islamabad High Court did not need to examine the evidence or determine guilt at this stage.

Chief Justice Dogar granted the request because protective bail provides limited relief to someone seeking access to the court with jurisdiction over their case.

The decision therefore concerns Jatt’s immediate legal protection rather than the merits of the criminal allegations.

Sialkot Stampede Raises Questions About Event Safety

The tragedy has brought attention to crowd management at large public gatherings organised by social media personalities.

Influencers can attract substantial audiences through online announcements. However, public events involving giveaways, celebrity appearances or prize distributions require careful planning.

Organisers must consider venue capacity, controlled entry points, emergency exits and the availability of trained security personnel.

In Sialkot, police have alleged that the simultaneous entry of attendees contributed to the deadly crowd crush. Investigators will need to establish whether organisers anticipated the crowd size and implemented appropriate safety arrangements.

The incident also demonstrates why event permissions must be supported by practical safety measures rather than treated as routine administrative requirements.

Investigation Continues After IHC Bail Decision

The Islamabad High Court’s decision allows Jatt to seek legal relief before November 10. However, the criminal investigation into the deaths and injuries remains active.

Police must establish the responsibilities of the organisers, security personnel and other individuals named in the FIR. Investigators will also need to examine whether permit violations or failures in crowd management contributed to the tragedy.

For the families of those killed, the immediate concern remains accountability for the circumstances that led to the loss of life.

Mr Pattlo’s protective bail does not end the Sialkot stampede case. The next stage will depend on further court proceedings and the evidence gathered by investigators.
